fantastic location, right in heart of San fran and close to the Bart. The dynamics between the staff are interesting to say the least. There is cheap bike rental at the hostel which is worth doing.

The hostel looks worse from the outside, located in a kind of shady side street around the corner of what looks like a brothel... Geary Street, one of the biggest in San Francisco, is very close and offers lots of plcaes to get food and other things one might need. The reservations got mixed up a few times with different groups of travellers and some had to sleep in the kitchen/common room where the employees sleep. It's athmosphere is almost family=like from time to time but unfortunately

the staff was very friendly and stayed up late to check me in after i told them about the delay in my flight. i will come back. new mattress, new carper, new bunks ... seemed fairly clean after the scheduled daily 11am cleanup. they even requested a couple if they could 'double-up' on the double bed in my room to allow for an extension of my continued stay there tonight. and wow, there is satellite tv in my dorm room!

If you aren't expecting anything nice whatsoever, go ahead and stay here. It is not worth how much they charge, and their rates change from day to day depending on what they think they can squeeze out of you. There is lots of noise at all hours of the night, especially arguing from the men who 'run' the place. They neglected to pay the cable bill while I was there. Although I paid the reimbursement fee on this website, they refused to give me proper change when I cancelled a couple of nights

the management has no interest in customer comfort or satisfaction. the staff have to work very hard to keep things clean and presentable. they made a good effort to maintain a nice atmosphere. i met the owner and he appeared surprised when i asked for a different sheet as the first one he had given me had a large tear that meant it couldn't fit on the bed. he also appeared surprised at the suggestion of free breakfast.

This hostel has potential however at the moment the staff are constantly arguing and i never felt i could effectively use the kitchen. It is not well sign posted and is located at the end of an alley but is close enough to all the main points of interest. There was a new guy there trying to sort out the problems so it is on the up, good luck guys....

one of the guys that works there, anu, is a real bastard. he thinks he knows everything, hes rude and lazy and never does anything execpt try to give you dirty sheets. he lies and never leaves the kitchen/ computer room and hates america and says things like "india invented everything including gun powder." the other guy that works there, alan, is better and has a really cheap bike rental business and can help you with directions/ stuff to do. the guy that works there sometimes, phil, is a nice,
