Friendly staff and the pancake breakfast every morning definitely helped start the day. The hostel was clean, safe and fun but the distance meant that the place completely emptied out during the day and made getting too and from things a bit of a hassle.

Juliet does an awesome job...
it really is like a home away from home.
not right in downtown SD, but with Bus and Trolley it's easy to get there.

It was a very nice place and we hope that we could stay there again some day. Big thanks to the hostess, who really helped us a lot.

My stay there was great, I really enjoyed and the staff will bend over backwards to help you out. Just be careful you have to book for two nights even though they let you book for one night using hostels.com. The hostel was very clean and the location was not so bad, easy transport to and from downtown. There were a few problems, the wifi was weak, and sometimes no one could get a connection. The kitchen area is not really a kitchen, the sink is a bathroom sink, and the stove is an electric stov

I've stayed here a couple times recently while on business. It isn't near any restaurants but I have a car so it hasn't been a problem. It's clean, the staff is friendly, and I'm really enjoying staying there and the cost is great. Thanks!

I was very disappounted in my stay here. I think the 2 night minimum stay was because no on would stay after the 1st night. A bathroom sink being used as a kitchen sink is unacceptable. A hot plate or griddle, a small dorm size frig does not constitute a kitchen! There was no table in the kitchen area, no chairs. The floor plan layout to get to the bathroom is inconvenient. There was no recycling...did not have a hostel feel. To eat the pancakes in the a.m. you had to put them on your lap! The h

If you're looking for a big "party central" hostel in the middle of all the action, then this is not where you want to be. However, if you're looking to stay somewhere that's smaller, quieter, and more peaceful with a homey feel, this place is great. I was in San Diego for a conference and was able to get some work done while there. The lady who runs the place is great and takes a lot of pride in her establishment, and she'll make you pancakes every morning. The hostel is out of the way (about 2
