at first i thought it was going to suck. then i started talking to people, and all of a sudden it was like hanging out with long lost family, the cool ones you dont see often enough. i really enjoyed my stay. it was a bit far away, but it was nice to be able to chill out away from the city. thoroughly recommend it!

A really pretty hostel in a nice location. Nice people. Only problem was the free bikes are all broken and it was a scary ride into town. appart from that it was great!

Although the hostel is kind of far from downtown Seattle it is a really nice place. The people were a lot more relaxed because it is directly in the nature and everything slows you down a little from the usual running around in downtown... the houses are very good, a nice kitchen was available and the staff gives you a ride to the ferry that goes to downtown.
I got the wrong directions... if you arrive in seattle go to pike & 3rd street and take bus 54 to the ferry, from there 118 to the grocer

Very unique atmosphere, very clean and comfortable, but 1,30h from Downtown Seattle, so it's not an option if you come to Seattle to see the city and are not interested in Vashon Island or nature. If you arrive late at night, they pick you up from the ferry stop and drive you to the hostel, but you have to pay 10 dollars for that. They offer 2 free shuttles to the bus stop per day (7:15am, 11:45am) so you can leave the island 'for free' without having to pay them.

The only thing I know about them is that you´ll have to take a ferry to go to the hostel, and when I check that it was so late for not to be charged for the day altough I call them before 10: 00 AM.

If you want to be on Vashon Island, this is a pretty good place, but if you want to visit Seattle, it is not so good. It is a long ferry ride and a long bus ride from Seattle, and you will either have to pay to be taken to bus stop/ferry terminal, or hike about a mile from the hostel to the bus stop. Buses do not run on Sundays and holidays. Transportation can be a real hassle.
Rooms are cramped, and with 8 people per room it can get stuffy, particularly if one person insists on having the w

I booked my stay during a weekend where every hotel and hostel was booked. I called to cancel 36 hours in advance and I wasn't allowed to even though there would have been no problem for the hotel to find another person for that weekend. Even after I explained that I am a student the owner kept repeating it was policy. This hotel sucks, it's too far away and you can't get your money back when you are not staying there.

I've stayed at Ranch a few times before and i had no major complaints or issues to be resolved whatsoever. The only thing that i wished this place had was the wireless internet access , Now they've finally got it all up and running .
