Greenpoint YMCA is located in a nice neighborhood in Brooklyn, close to gentrified Williamsburgh. Easy to be reached with the G-Line or by foot walking thru Bedford Ave from L-Line (stop Limoner). The area is pretty quiet (Europa club in front) and definitely safe (NYPD precint right in front).
Several markets around during day time, but also bars to hang out in the night (Bedford Ave).
Rooms in good conditions, shared bathrooms as well. I just didn't like the plastic mattress, but this d

Good affordable way to stay in New York. Safe location, convenient to transportation, reasonable price, acceptable accommodations, reasonably organized facility. I would go back.

I enjoyed my stay here. Staying here is like living in a college dorm. Not as nice as a traditional hotel room, but if you don't mind the shared bathroom with others of your sex, then this place is a good deal. Although I prefer the Flushing YMCA, this was a good alternative.

I stayed 3 night at Greenpoint YMCA. Well...the place is safe (police station in front of it) but the stuff not very helpful, they don't know how to get to JFK, they propose the taxi instead. Rooms are fine, a little bit stinky. Connection to downtown is not so convenient, you need to switch from G line to L.It takes a while. They have internet machine where for 5 min you pay 1 dollar but pay attention to have it in bill, coins are not accepted.

Both the Guest Room and the Bathroom were clean.
The breakfast was pretty decent.
The place is quite secure and is close to the metro station.

I'm quite disappointed of YMCA. I lived many hotel & hostel. This one is the worst!! I booked the room is 2 beds, but when I checked in. The staff said only bunk bed is available. If I didn't want the bunk bed, then it should be 1 bed room left. At the beginning, I think if it's bunk bed still fine. But after I got the room, I can't believe the room is so small!! I can't find any space for my baggages!! And the room was very dirty. After that, I asked the staff if I changed 1 bed room,

Probably the most quiet of all the hostels I have ever stayed at! Located directly across a police station and a few blocks from the metro, it is conveniently placed! I would stay there again if I needed to go to Brooklyn.
