El Hostal is a great little place in Antigua. Staff is friendly and helpful, location is great, and the price is right. Also, free breakfast off their menu can't be beat. Not really a party hostel which is good for since all the rooms face the quaint little courtyard and fountain. I would reccomend this palce to anyone in Antigua, Guatemala.

El Hostal is a really nice place to stay in Antigua. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The hostel is spotless and has plenty of hot water. It is a very short walk from the Parque Central. AND THE BREAKFAST!!! The breakfast is really excellent. The only complaint I would wage is that the beds in the dorm are not so terribly comfortable and a lot of light comes in early in the morning. But overall, it was a wonderful place to stay.

In general my stay was good however when I checked in and out there was nobody at the front desk. Actually most of the time there was nobody there. Housekeeping people (who were very nice) were my only contact. I tried to pay them for my one night stay but they did not receive the money. I have received a mail blaming on me and asking me to pay now that I am back home.

Excelent place to stay if you're not a party animal. Totally calm, clean and well located. Cleibert (front clerk) was amazingly friendly and helpful. Definitely El Hostal is the best choice.

The owners of this place are just about the friendliest and most helpful people you could hope for. It was in a great location and the people I met there were social and nice. The bed was less then comfortable, but that was in the 6 bed dorm. Other beds were better rumor had. I'd surely stay there again.

The owners were so nice, and the place is really cute. Breakfasts were awesome and included in the price. Showers were hot and pretty clean. Bunks in the dorms were quite uncomfortable though; basically a sleeping bag on a picnic table. Cafe No Se and Y Tu Pina Tambien were awesome places to eat/drink right next door. Overall, a pretty good hostel experience during the crazy Semana Santa.

El Hostal was lovely. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. It felt safe and was pretty quiet which we needed at this particular time so we were happy it wasn't a party hostel.

Was only in the hostal for one night, and spent the minimum of time there as it was Palm Sunday and I was following the procession around, but my impressions were of a spotlessly clean room, clean linens and the most helpful staff I've come across so far in Guatemala.
