NOT TO BAD FOR THE PRICE. BUT YOU GET ROBBED TAXES ON TOP OF YOUR ORIGINAL INTERNET BOOKING LIST PRICE, THAT YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF. THE STAFF (FEMALE NY'R) TELLS LIES, THAT YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF YOUR BOOKING EG: 3,4,5 DAYS ETC, APON CHECK IN & TELLS YOU THAT IT'S FULLY BOOKED & THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. JUST GETTING ROBBED BY THE RECEPTION CHICK & CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. LOCATION IS WRONG IF YOU WANT TO SPEND TIME IN TIME SQUARE AREA. CARPET FLOORS GET SWEPT & NOT VACUMED.(N

I don't know whether this is a regular feature, but an NYPD officer is in the lobby 24 hours a day.

this was a fantastic place to stay; i was impressed how the rooms were cleaned every day, the bathrooms were also very clean. there was always a security guard in the front, which was comforting, and the common room area was a great time. it was really easy to get to the hostel via subway, and its in a nice and quiet neighborhood just down the street from the park. i would definitely stay at the continental hostel again.

A great place for backpackers and people on minimum budget travels. However, beware of a strange smell and small and uncomfortable rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful and the bacement seemed to be a nice hang-out with pool tables and free wi-fi.

fabulous hostel! great location, full of character and the staff were lovely! Two blocks from the 1,2 and 3 trains, lots of restaurants/shops/takeout places/grocery stores within five minutes walk. Cleanliness was good - rooms offered to be cleaned everyday and bathroom was thoroughly bleached daily!
The chillout zone downstairs with pool table, table tennis, couches, coffee machine, internet access, tv room, microwaves and bbq area were awesome!
I don't know what other people are moaning ab

We stayed on the 5th Floor in a twin share private room. We were beside the kitchen, which reeked of propane. I did not enjoy smelling propane every time I opened the bedroom door. The room was fine, clean. There were only the 2 beds, no table or desk which would have been nice to put stuff on while we were there. The bathrooms did not have soap or hand towels of any sort for drying your hands in them so make sure to bring your own. The hostel does supply towels to guests though. Overall, it was

Beds were uncomfortable. I would suggest a small side table and chair in the bedroom. Air conditioner was set at 66 degrees which we had to turn on and off the air throughout the night. Joe was cool to communicate with the other receptionists weren't.

The hostel was alright but not great. Be carefull with the blond(e) at the reception, she completely took out her frustrations on us when we checked in, not a nice welcome AT ALL!!!
