It was quite a nice environment. The staff was pretty amiable, and the location was great (in San Francisco downtown, just a 10 min walk from the nearest BART station). The only thing I can complain about was that, despite being in a 6 people room in paper we were 7 there, but it wasn't much of a problem.

I had reserved a private room so was sent 1/2 block to the Hotel Dakota which was very old and in need of a sprucing up but the room was good and the hotel location was excellent. Two computers in the lobby, a refrig and microwave ande telephone in the room. clean towels, claw-footed tub. Breakfast served tht eha Adelaid which had many computers and a much younger, hipper, livlier atmosphere. For my needs the Dakota was preferable.

Good place to stay

This is the best hostel I've ever stayed in--barely beating out 2 others because of the free breakfast. People who complain about this place need to remember that hostels are not hotels. All of the staff were excellent and very helpful. The level of customer service I received was of the type that I've had at Marriott hotels. I felt that the staff really cared about and went out of their way to help me.

Chris and I arrived at the Adelaide Hostel after and long flight. It was the first stop in a 3 month vacation. The staff were extremely friendly and the location is excellent. It is also very good value for money. We will try and stay again at the end of our holiday before we fly out. I would definately recommend it to anyone. In terms of fun factor, yes we are both 43 but still like fun and interaction with fellow travellers.I just couldn't help noticing that technology has taken over! In th
